We audited 954 US home-service contractor websites across 186 cities and 12 states. 78.9% cannot be booked online. Nearly three quarters can only be reached by calling during business hours.

Methodology
Contractor websites were sourced from the Hero365 local directory and audited by an automated crawl between 2026-07-20 and 2026-08-19. Each site was checked for a customer-facing booking path, for whether the only contact route was a phone number, and for the presence of a recognisable field-service software footprint.
Only sites where a check actually resolved are counted. The crawl touched more sites than it resolved: 5,040 were reached but returned no usable answer on the booking check, and they are excluded from the denominator rather than counted as “no online booking”. Counting them would inflate the headline to roughly 96% — a statement about our crawler, not about contractors. Every percentage on this page carries the sample it was computed from.
243 of the 954 audited sites had no city or state recorded. They are included in the overall figures and excluded from the geographic cuts. Among only the sites with known geography the rate is 79.5%, against 78.9% overall, so the missing geography is not biasing the headline.
No cut with fewer than 20 sites is published, and no business is named. All figures are ratios over aggregates. No Hero365 customers appear in the sample — this measures the market, not our users.
Limitations.This measures what a contractor’s public website exposes. A contractor may take bookings through a third-party marketplace, a social profile or a phone-answering service without any of it appearing on their own site, and would be counted here as having no online booking. The software-footprint figure is a lower bound for the same reason: it detects public traces only, so “none detected” is not the same as “uses no software”.
