Cómo se calcula

weight = volume (in³) × density (lb/in³) × quantity. Plate: length × width × thickness. Round bar: π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × length. Tube: outer area minus inner area, × length.

Densities: steel 0.2836, stainless 0.289, aluminum 0.0975, copper 0.323, brass 0.307 lb/in³. All dimensions are in inches.

Metal Weight Calculator: FAQ

How do you calculate metal weight?

Find the volume of the piece in cubic inches, then multiply by the metal’s density in pounds per cubic inch. Steel is about 0.2836 lb/in³, aluminum 0.0975, stainless 0.289, copper 0.323, and brass 0.307. This calculator handles the volume for plate, round bar, and tube shapes.

How much does a steel plate weigh?

Multiply length × width × thickness (all in inches) for the volume, then by 0.2836 for steel. A 48 × 12 × 0.25 inch steel plate weighs about 40.8 pounds.

Does the alloy change the weight?

Slightly. The densities here are nominal for common alloys — specific grades and tempers of aluminum or stainless vary a little. For a critical order, confirm against the mill certificate.
